Explanation - Bloomington / Champaign Tournament Scheduling - April 5-6 & April 12-13
Posted On: 06/11/2014

The scheduling of the Bloomington (April 5-6, 2014) and Champaign (April 12-13, 2014) tournaments have been a major frustration for all. Here is the root cause of the problems and the resolution moving forward.

  •  Clubs are entering their teams in the 11th hour when facilities are already full.
  • Clubs are requesting special accommodations to their schedule for various reasons.

Moving forward the following policy will be implemented to prevent the undue stress caused with the scheduling.

  • Facilities are contracted a year in advance and will accommodate a set number of teams. In the future, when the tournament is full, as both of these events were a month ago, teams will be accepted once full payment is received. If teams are late, they will be put on a wait list.
  • We have allowed special scheduling privileges for clubs in the past. Moving forward those privileges will be lost, and it will be up to the club to assure their teams have coverage, rather than shift that responsibility to the tournament scheduler.

We apologize for the undue stress caused by the many changes made over the last two tournaments, and feel these rules will prevent any future problems.

Tim Vande Schraaf, President

Eastside VBC High School Program 2014
Posted On: 11/02/2013

The Eastside VBC is pleased to offer our upcoming High School Program. Our goal is have Travel Teams at all levels. The Tentative Tournament schedule is almost set. Our plans are to play our teams in the Open Division. Practices for both Travel and Local will be more up tempo and prepare our players to play at a much higher level. Thanks to those that attended the Information Meeting on October 27, 2013. We had a great turn-out! We are providing our 2014 Talking Points so parents/players can make a decision on what club or prgram to participate. Having been involved with volleyball since 1996, the program this year is probably the best program ever. We understanbd that choosing a club can be a difficult decision and we hope you will consider our program with our experience, passion, and goals of increasing volleyball levels in Central Illinois.  Please peruse the Try-out Page for times of try-outs and assessments. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Tim Vande Schraaf.

Eastside VBC Recruiting Combine
Posted On: 11/01/2013

The Eastside Volleyball Club is pleased to host a Great Lakes Region Volleyball Combine. The Eastside VBC Recruiting Combine will be held on December 28, 2013 from 7:30 am to 12 noon. This combine is open to ANY athlete, not just Eastside VBC players. Please link to the Great Lakes Volleyball Combine Registration to register and set up a profile. The following is the registration information sent from Great Lakes Region Combine Director Creig Federico.

"The Great Lakes Region has created a "Eastside Volleyball Combine Tryout" Membership that is listed in the NEW MEMBERSHIP section. Here is the link to the Region Membership page. It may show a cost BUT they WILL NOT be asked for payment...

They will select: Eastside VBC Combine Special One Day Membership (December 28)

Per the region, if the kids were PREVIOUSLY registered with USAV they will go into their records as a renewing member and if they are brand new they go to our website first and click on the Register Now link and then
under Registration Links they click the one for NEW MEMBER.
As a quick reference, below is a short list of what separates the Great Lakes Region Club Combine from others:
  • Each athlete receives their own Online Profile for their entire high school career.
  • They can update all personal information at any time.
  • They can add their own up-to-date highlight links at any time.
  • This is the only combine which includes skills video.
  • The Online Player Database and all player profiles are available to EVERY College Volleyball Coach in the country...FREE! We don't just say we send out a report....we mass email all coaches so they know there are new players in the database...where they can login 24/7 at any time in the year...etc.
  • Club Directors have or receive FREE access to their players results...
  • The cost is very competitive compared to similar services whose programs offer way less!
In the end, this program will provide your athletes/parents with a reasonable, trustworthy and cost-effective program versus the many "outside" recruiting services.

The program also provides a marketing tool that parents, player's and club recruiting coordinators or directors can forward when reaching out to college coaches."
